Eden Albert Rugby On Thursday 18th of June The Owairaka rugby team went to May Rd Park in Mt Roskill. We were feeling down all the way to the park and when we got there we talked to the organizer of the tournament, StanleyFoster We played four games our first game was against Mt Eden primary. We kicked them out of their feet, thrashing them 40-0 to us. Our tries were from Davin 4, Pridget 2, Ethan1 & Hunaara 1
Our second game we challenged Dominion Rd primary we got told that they were a good team. They had an advantage of people. But at the end of we worked as a team & had a big victory of 45-0. We were happy with that game. That’s when our hopes started going up. But it wasn’t over yet we still had two games to go. We went to go check the scoreboards and we were a tie with Our Lady of Sacred Hart (A.K.A: O.L.S.H.)
Our third game we played Kohia tce. They were a hard team because of their team work and skill. This was the game we didn’t play so good. We won 15-0 but our team was slacking off on teamwork. Our hopes of winning the trophy were still up After that game Mr. Waller gave us “The Talk”
Our last but not least game was against Wesley Primary school. That was the hardest game, but we went for it. It took a while to get tries, and then finally Davin got a fear try. Later on one of Wesley’s boys got good try. We went harder and harder by the minute! Same as them. Last minute of the last games Hunaara went for it and he got the try. “YAY” The crowd roared. We were proud of that game because we worked hard for it.
We went to go take photos of the team. Then we went to sit down to announce the winner s. First was the under 50kgs. Gladstone Primary won first place. Next they announced the sportsmanship went to Gladstone under 40’s they disserved it because they were friendly people. Last but not least they announced the winners of the under 40s cup (Foster Cup) they said that there was a draw against O.L.S.H and… “Owairaka”!! The rugby team were cheering and cheering. Hunaara went up and collected our prize because O.L.S.H won it last year and kept it. Then we thought we were a perfect team of skills. “We won with pride and effort” Ethan’s dad said
When we got to school we went to go tell everyone without the cup they didn’t believe us until we showed them. That’s when we showed Mrs. Whysall and she took about five photos of us. At the end of the day we went home with pride.
